Vast CAD Design and Drafting Experience
3D CAD drafting and modeling is the primary competency of LTS. We have a wealth of experience working in both SolidWorks and Unigraphics, and are pleased to offer both depending on your needs and preferences. Just about all new products today are designed in a 3D CAD environment…and for good reason. If it can be imagined, it can be modeled. LTS has built just about every kind of model that can be imagined. From precise, miniature machinery to gigantic, structural steel erections, and everything else in between. Rest assured, LTS knows all the tricks to efficiently make your models accurate and robust.
Some projects require free form modeling to create complex curvature and surfaces. Some projects require the reverse engineering of complicated injection molded parts with a staggering amount of complex features. Some projects require hundreds or thousands of unique parts to be combined in sub and main assemblies, resulting in a singular, cohesive design. No matter what the CAD challenge, LTS is fluent in every tool and technology available to create models of the highest standard.
What is parametric modeling? Its the use of predefined variables, or parameters that are linked to the geometry of the part. A solid model is built out of operations (such as extruding or revolving) a sketch that results in the creation of a solid body. A parametric model uses parameters to define all the aspects of the part geometry, rather than ‘hard coded’ dimensions. When a model is fully parametrized, a designer can easily go back and edit the values of the parameter list to make quick, efficient updates to the model. A properly constructed model also uses Datums, rather than solid geometry, to create sketches, features, and mating relationships in assemblies.
Engineering Drawings
Most parts require a 2D drawing to be created for the manufacturing or prototyping process. LTS will furnish professional, complete drawings to convey every technical detail to turn your idea into reality. LTS drawings are made to the industry standard, ASME Y14.5-1994 (either Metric or English, depending on your needs). LTS practices GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) when relevant. Don’t worry if you don’t know what this all means, LTS does, and your suppliers will thank you for it.
